The entire esplanade of this 5 year old building purchased by the Federal Government from a local developer was cracking due to poor base preparation, cold-weather concrete placement and the use of frost susceptible finishes such as tile. In addition, numerous accessibility deficiencies were also identified. DEi provided prime consultant and structural engineering services to replace the entire esplanade with a similar looking, but more durable coloured/textured concrete material and corrected all of the accessibility deficiencies. The execution of the project included phasing of the work to maintain access to the building and fire exiting, as the building remained fully operational throughout the construction process.
